Gene Moore 1936 – 2015

Bernard Gene Moore, 79, of Muscatine, passed away at his home in Muscatine on Monday July 13, 2015. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center, located within Memorial Park Cemetery. There are no services that will take place. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Bernard’s name. Online condolences may be left for the family at The Geo M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Creamations Services is caring for Bernard’s family and arrangements.

Bernard G. Moore was born on June 24, 1936 in Muscatine, the son of Earnest and Charlotte (Hanchett) Moore. On August 9, 1952, Bernard was untied in marriage to Donna Adams in Muscatine. Bernard retired from Heinz after 38 years. He enjoyed working, mowing lawns and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Bernard will be missed by his wife, Donna Moore of Muscatine; two children, Bud Moore and Fiance, Denise Hammer and daughter, Molly of Muscatine. Terry Pugh (Vince) of Virginia; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Simmons and Bernie Moore (Jennifer); one step grandchild, Justin Pugh; one great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild; two sisters, Della and Jenny.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Ronnie Moore and Joyce Noah.

Janet Lea Walker 1963 – 2015

Janet Lea Walker, 51, of Wapello, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 10 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00pm prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Janet’s name. Janet Lea Schnieder was born on August 20, 1963, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Leander and Christina (Nylin) Schnieder. On August 18, 1990 Janet was united in marriage to Michael Walker in Muscatine. She was the manager at Deery Brothers Collision Center in Burlington, Iowa. Janet enjoyed fishing, camping, mowing, shooting, and spending time with her family.

Janet will be deeply missed by “Her Man” Mike (Fuzz) Hardin of Wapello; sister, Joan Yeggy of Pollock, MO; brother Dale Schneider of Monroe, MI; sister, Tina Sears of Polluck, Mo; nieces, Georgia, Jacqueline, Miranda and nephew, Christian.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Michael in 2006, two siblings, in infancy, Delbert and Rose, nephew, Justin.

Lenora Kirk 1932 – 2015

Lenora Kirk, 83, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 in her home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 1:00pm at St Mathias Catholic Church. Casket Bearers will be Leslie Kirk Sr., Rodney Kirk Jr., Nathan Kirk, Damian Kirk, Gary Martin and Jimmy Vargas. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muscatine. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held in Gannon Hall at St. Mathias. Lenora Vargus was born on June 18, 1932, in Cotter, Iowa the daughter of Frank C. and Mary D. (Diaz) Vargus. On September 11, 1954, Lenora was united in marriage to William H. Kirk in Muscatine. She was a member of St. Mary’s and St. Mathias’ Catholic Church. She enjoyed raising children and being a hardworking caregiver to everyone.

Lenora will be deeply missed by her children, Leslie Kirk Sr. and his wife, Teressa, of Muscatine and Julie Bargar and her husband, Jason, of Houston; sister Alberta Rocky of Muscatine; six grandchildren; Rodney Kirk Jr., Nathan Kirk, Leslie Kirk Jr., Misty Taylor, Brandon Bargar and Lucas Bargar; and six great-grandchildren: Damian Kirk, Gayla Taylor, Paige Taylor, Cloe Taylor, Robbie Taylor and Ava Kirk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son Rodney Kirk St.; six brothers: Larry Vargus, James Vargus, Ronnie Vargus, David Vargus and Carmen Vargus; and four sisters: Vivian Schrewers, Josephine Gray, Marie Martin and Juanita Maya.
